Finally, a "General" category!
As a Canadian trying to find cheaper protein in the US, I've come across some hurdles and findings that I'll add to in the future, and hopefully you can contribute your experiences too.
Up until January, I had been ordering Dymatize Elite Whey from a place up here (SupplementsCanada, if you must know
), and the price has gone up even more now to $100 for a 10 lb tub. People on BB.com told me I was getting ripped off, and I really felt that I was.
However, consider that shipping from the US would be about $40 (US) for this thing. Depending on where you're purchasing it from, the retailer may ship it via UPS or FedEx International. The courier may charge an exorbitant "Customs Brokerage Fee" of $35-$85. (I think I just got hit by this with my Ultra Peptide 2.0 shipment.)
Here are two great finds I've made so far:
- I ordered Muscle Milk from FitnessONE for $20 US per 2.47 lb tub. The shipping was reasonable, it was sent via Canada Post Ground, and GST was charged with the order. No brokerage fees or duty was charged!
- The "awesome deal" for Ultra Peptide 2.0 that I thought I got isn't working out too well; I'll find out the damage tomorrow. I had been looking for a retailer for American Sports American Whey, and think I just found one -
BuildingBrawn.com
. Their prices are good, and they ship via USPS Express Mail International, which connects with Canada Post. So, finally, I can get American Whey at a better price than Dymatize Elite (I hope).
