100% Whey Protein Gold Standard Optimum Nutrition really has set the bar high for a general - all around protein for anyone to take. At the cost to serving ratio, they are consistently at the top of the charts, providing an average of 70 scoop servings per 5 pound bottle. At 24 grams of protein per 32 gram serving, you know you are getting a majority of protein instead of some cheap filler. Overall, the gold standard whey proves to be a winner time and time again. From my own experiences, the chocolate variants of flavor are probably the safest bet if you have never tried this before. They are very flavorful and mix well in just about any bottle imaginable. On top of all of this, these are found everywhere now days! Highly recommended starter and maintenance protein for all!

Omega-3 Fish Oil Concentrate 1000 mg This cheap Kirkland brand Omega-3 fish oil capsules was another impulse buy on my part but has proved to be great! The overall oils found in each pill are actually quite low, at roughly 500mg EPA/DHA per 2 softgels. But at $10.99 with a coupon at Costco for 400 capsules, there really isn't much to complain about! Only down side is the minor bloating I seem to get when I ingest the pills in the morning with breakfast, but for some reason I do not get this effect when I take it with any other meals throughout the day. On the positive side, since starting this 4 months ago, I can feel a much easier joint mobility and a somewhat clearer thought process when I am at the gym - something which is probably not really the direct cause of the Omega-3's. Mainly, my bad ankle which I had damaged in high school used to be in a chronic state of discomfort and has significantly lessened with the fish oils in my dietary regimen. Highly recommended for a cheap starter Omega-3 supplement to get started!

Pro Performance Creatine Monohydrate I bought this GNC brand Creatine Monohydrate on a whim with a friend as we were checking out the local store at our closest mall. I've been looking for a cheap, yet relatively good creatine supplement as I have heard lots about the effects and potential benefits from starting the supplement. The GNC brand is much like any other creatine you'll find out there on the market. It is NOT micronized and therefore the lower rating on its mixability. I normally throw it into my blender bottle with water on off days and mix it with my protein powder when I finish a workout. Any time that I use straight water, the creatine takes quite a long time to dissolve. At times, the liquid solution is cloudy and often the granules can be seen at the bottom of the bottle. As for the method - I avoided the extra "loading phase" and opted for a pure 5g a day after completing a workout. So far I've seen some great effects, probably just a small amount over what I could consider any placebo effects. I've been able to constantly hit my max personal bests, and in the past 2 months of starting this supplement have increased my flat bench press by 20 pounds as well as greatly increased my deadlifting weight to 245 from 185 pounds. Overall I find that this is a cheap, and relatively safe supplement to take. No qualms with buying it from GNC either. Highly recommended as something everyone should try if they have the health qualifications to do so.
